Headaches are extremely common. Headaches can be sharp, dull, throbbing, and extremely painful resulting in nausea and sensitivity to light. Some headaches are just occasional but many people suffer from chronic headaches. There are many causes of headaches which include hormonal, environmental, allergies, sinus related, etc. Most people suffer from tension headaches which can be treated conservatively by a chiropractor. Tension headaches occur when there is instability in the neck causing muscle to become tight and nerves being irritated. The most common causes of these headaches are our sedentary work conditions which include many hours behind a desk and computer. These are man-made conditions that over time cause spinal imbalances resulting in muscle tension of the head and neck. Neck Pain Neck and upper back pain can be caused by s sudden event like a whiplash injury, bulging/herniated disc, or a slip and fall injury. It can also be caused by an imbalance formed through a slow process over time. An example of this would be a person that has a secretarial job which includes answering the phones often or computer work, resulting in a spinal imbalance to the the neck and upper back.
